Exciting things are happening at Camp Chingachgook!!
Did you know each year Camp Chingachgook services thousands of people in not only summer camp programs but also through groups that come year round? The camp staff includes people who live on the property and work through out the year to keep quality programs running in all kinds of weather.
In October, November and December many groups came for a variety of programs. This past fall saw not only school groups but also hosted a Teen Rally, Girl Scout events, an in-service teacher day, the Y-Knot appreciation dinner, holiday parties and family reunions. In addition there were over 170 people at the camp’s annual Thanksgiving Family Feast. If you or anyone you know is looking for a great place to host your event, give the camp a call. Camp will be running programs throughout the winter.
In addition to our great programs, Camp has a state of the art facility. If you haven’t been there lately, make it a New Year’s Resolution to get there this year. Over the last decade camp has seen quite a bit of facility changes. The climbing tower located in the center of camp; along with its boulder wall is a great attraction for both summer campers and outside groups. We also have a new medical facility that is located in the old camp director’s cabin. This updated facility allows campers access to superb health care in a clean and bright environment. Other updates include a new flag pole dedicated by the Alumni Association in the Center Green and new storage sheds for the waterfront.
For those of you who have not been to camp in several years, you won’t believe the Hike and Trip Center. This beautiful building not only supports the hike and trip programs but also holds a library, meeting space and a grand fireplace. It is a sight to see!!
A few summers past saw the addition of the Yurts. Yurts are used as additional camper space so we can service more children each summer. (Look at latest pictures to see one.) With all the additional campers, the dining hall also needed additional space and thus was created the Dake Dining Deck. This additional eating space was created from the space previously known as the veranda and before that, the rail.
Finally, if you haven’t seen Pine Oil acres in a while, you are certainly in for a treat. With the installation of a new septic system, this area was completely revamped and turned into a huge playing field. It allows all kinds of activities to be done in a wonderful space designed with kids in mind.
Camp Chingachgook is with out a doubt, the greatest place in the world to send your child. It is also the best facility around for your schools, your churches, your businesses and yourself. Come and see how we have grown.

We Need Your Help
The only reason the Camp Chingachgook Alumni Association has been able to do all it has in the past
is because of its members. With out our dues paying members we would not have been able to accomplish
the inspiring projects of the past. It is because of you that we were able to give the camp a fleet of
war canoes. It is because of you that we were able to design and build a tree fort that over looks beautiful
Lake George and it is because of you that we were able to build a state of the art hike and trip center that
is the envy of many camps. The Alumni Council recognizes the importance of its members and hopes that you will
continue to support our efforts in the future. Each year we ask alums to join the association so we can support
the camp and improve the experience each child has there.
With all that goes on in our busy lives it is easy to put the donation letter aside and forget about it. It is
so important that we not let this happen. Each year the camp depends on the Alumni Association to help finance
projects that improve the camp. For many of us, Camp Chingachgook gave us something we will never forget. For
some of us it was self-esteem, for others it was a sense of belonging. Perhaps you remember camp for giving you
a feeling of accomplishment when you received your seaman’s award or your expert card in water-skiing. Maybe you
remember the pride you felt when you were able to climb that mountain with a full backpack. For many of us it was
the first place we learned to swim or the place where we learned how to develop our own pictures. No matter what you
remember most about Camp Chingachgook, it is almost certain that you made lasting friendships. It is a goal of the alumni
association to give something back to the camp that has given us so much. We hope that you will be able to join the association
and help us help the camp.
