President's Message

Dear Fellow Alums,

Having been involved with Camp Chingachgook for most of my life, it is an honor to be taking over as President of the alumni association. We have a lot to be proud of as an organization and what better time to celebrate than in the Camp’s 90th year of operation? The alumni association members have accomplished so many things for the camp. With all of your support we have been able to provide the camp with so many important items.

Since its inception in 1983, the alumni association has been able to provide the camp with new sailboats, a fleet of War canoes, new benches and picnic tables as well as the alumni water fountain located in the Sr. Boy’s Unit. Other accomplishments include much needed scholarships for children who would otherwise never know the magic of Camp Chingachgook, and improvements to the camp through years of sponsored work weekends. More recently we have seen the creation of a state of the art Hike and Trip center along with the beautiful new tree fort overlooking the lake. Each year the alumni association supports Order of Chingachgook projects and helps ensure that each camper goes home with a patch to commemorate their time spent at camp.

This year we hope to continue in these types of worthwhile projects as well as continue to try and reach out to more alum that have a heartfelt connection to Chingachgook. One of our proudest moments was the day we launched our new web site. It is the hope of the association that we will be able to reach out to hundreds if not thousands of alumni that we have lost touch with over the years. Indeed, the alumni association has a lot to be proud of and a lot to celebrate. As part of the 90th year celebration, we are planning the best Alumni day ever to be held on July 19th. We are also planning on bringing back the lost tradition of the annual fall foliage cruise. This event will be on October 11th. We hope you will join us for these spectacular celebrations and help rejoice with us all the accomplishments each one of you has helped us to achieve.
