Hikes are part of the Chingachgook Spirit
We've learned self-reliance, team-work, problem solving, and appreciation of
the natural world around us. We'll never forget the euphoria of reaching the summit, of hearing the
magical loon call, of sharing special moments with camp buddies.
Chingachgook gave us an opportunity that has a long lasting, positive impact -
more than most other experiences in our lives. Going on a wilderness adventure with peers and young
adult leaders gives us a strength and understanding and sense of camaraderie we will hold in our
hearts forever.
Here's the Plan
We have committed Alumni resources to strengthen the Chingachgook
hike experience. Over the next three years, we will plan and build a new hike/trip center
for the Camp. This educational building will serve as requisition and planning center for all
backpacking and canoe trips. The hike center will feature a low-impact camping classroom, food
and equipment storage and packing areas, and an outdoor education library and office. The project
will cost over $75,000.
